TL;DR: Forced capture means if a legal jump exists for the side to move, a non-jump is illegal. The engine blocks it or toasts. You still choose among jumps if the variant is not majority-capture. You do not choose to “develop instead.” Development is a quiet word. Quiet words die while a jump lives. Online, there is usually no huff; refusal replaces folklore.
Global, not local
The jump can be on the other wing. Your quiet idea on this wing is still illegal. Scan the whole dark-square set. Phones: rotate. Cropped wings are how people call force “random.” Random is the square you did not paint in your eyeballs. Paint the whole board. Then the force feels fair. Fair is visibility. Visibility is a zoom setting.
If two of your men can jump, you pick which man, unless majority says the bigger sequence. Picking the man is strategy inside the gun. Guns still allow a choice of barrels if several barrels exist. Barrels are jumps. Count them. Count is the force’s first skill. Click is the second.
What the server does instead of huff
Old house rule: if you did not jump, they remove the man that should have. Online: you cannot submit the quiet move. The man stays. The clock runs. You look silly. Silly is cheaper than a huff argument. Arguments are kitchens. Servers are toasts. Believe the toast. If there is no toast and the quiet move went through, you are in a no-force room. No-force is a variant. Remember which room you queued. Remembering is a rules chip. Chips again.
On force-on boards, a highlighted-only interface is a kindness. Kindness is not optional in blitz. Use it. Turning highlights off to look cool is a force tax you pay in flags. Flags are uncool.
Majority versus any-capture
Any-capture force: you must jump, you may pick a smaller take. Majority: you must pick a maximal take (definition can include number of pieces, sometimes kings weighted). If you pick the small one in majority, toast. If you pick the small one in any-capture, legal, maybe stupid. Stupid is allowed. Illegal is not. The difference is the chip, not your ethics. Ethics can still pick the larger take in any-capture because it wins. Winning is allowed too. Allowed is a big country. Illegal is a fence. Stand inside.
Flying plus majority is a long forced poem. Walking plus any-capture is a short gun. Do not recite the poem on the short gun’s board. Reciting is a far click. Far clicks toast in walk. Toast is the poem’s editor saying “wrong magazine.”
Force as a weapon you set up
You can leave a jump they must take into a recapture. That is a trap with a legal gun. The gun is on their side; the plate is the landing. Defense article covered bait. Force is why bait can be mandatory. Mandatory bait is the sharpest American tactic. If they could refuse, it would be a snack. They cannot. They eat, they sit on the plate, you recapture. Recapture is your next gun. Guns in series are combinations. Combinations are the double-jump page. Force is the law that makes them happen on time. Time is the clock. Clock does not pause for “I didn’t want to.” Want is quiet. Quiet is dead.
If you are the one forced, your job is the least-bad landing. Least-bad is still a capture. Capture, then defend the hole you created. Creating holes under force is not a moral failure. It is the tax. Pay, then fill. Filling next turn is the plan. Plans that start with “I’ll ignore the jump” are not plans. They are toasts. Toasts are the plan’s rejection letter. Read the letter. Jump.
Teaching force without meanness
Kids: “if you can jump, you must, look everywhere.” Play a puzzle where the jump is on the far side. Far-side puzzles are the whole pedagogy. Local puzzles teach local force, which is a lie. Lies make them rage at online. Online is global force. Global is the lesson. Celebrate the far jump they found. Celebrate more than a king. Kings are hats. Far jumps are eyes. Eyes are the sport. If they miss, point at the wing, not at their intelligence. Intelligence is fine. Eyes were cropped. Uncrop. Then the force is just a rule, which is all it ever was, in kitchens and on servers, in 1905 and in this tab, with or without a huff, with or without a flying king, as long as the chip said you must take, and the jump was there, and you are the side to move, which is the only side the force ever talks to, tonight, on this clock, on these dark squares, until you hop, and then it talks to them.
