Opponent Abandonment and Rematch Options

Report AFK opponents via site tools; rematch buttons save time versus re-queuing.

TL;DR: If they leave, the package either waits a disconnect timer, awards you a win, or leaves you in a ghost game. Rematch is a new contract: new colors maybe, same person, same clock. Do not rematch a leaver on 1+0 as a revenge plot. Revenge is a second disconnect. Disconnects are a room problem. Room problem is mute, report if rated, next queue. Next is a legal move. Revenge is a feeling. Feelings do not jump.

What the server should do

If a hallway timer exists, wait it. Waiting is not kindness; it is the package. If the package awards you on leave, take the win and do not lecture. Lectures are chat. Chat is optional. Optional is not a TD. If the package leaves you hanging with no result, reload once. Reload is lag medicine. Same. Then history: did it count? History is the witness. Witnesses are how you know whether to queue. Queueing while a ghost still owns your rating is a fork. Forks were lag. Do not fork. Look at history. Then queue. Then you are one person again. One is the theme of this whole troubleshooting family. One tab, one game, one result, then maybe rematch. Maybe. Maybe is a button. Buttons are consent. Consent is a rematch. Rematch without a button is you hoping. Hoping is not a socket. Sockets are the site. Site: play again on purpose or leave. Leaving is allowed. Allowed is a big country. Countries include going outside. Outside is a rematch with air. Air is unrated. Unrated is healthy after a leaver. Healthy is a policy. Policy is this page.

When rematch is wise

They played, they jumped, they had a connection, the game ended normally, you both want another. That is a rematch. Rematch is a lab: same opponent, new first move. Labs are casual. Casual rematch is how you learn their hanging-back-rank habit. Habits are data. Data wants a second game. Second games are the point of accounts. Accounts were tracking. Tracking likes rematch. Likes. Not must. Must is a tournament pairing. Pairings are not rematch. Rematch is optional. Optional is the difference. Difference is the article. Article says: optional twice with a decent opponent is education. Education is not a 1+0 revenge after they ragequit. Ragequit rematch is a coin flip on their Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi coins are not a curriculum. Curriculum is a slow second game vs someone who stayed. Stayed is the filter. Filter leavers out of your rematch button. Buttons can be not-pressed. Not-pressed is a skill. Skill is next queue. Queue is full of people who did not leave this time. This time is a new contract. Contracts are cheap. Cheap is a new opponent. New is allowed. Allowed. Take it.

If they abort before move two, some packages do not rate. Not-rated aborts are a mercy. Mercy is not a rematch obligation. Obligation is a napkin in a friend match. Friends can rematch after an abort because the kitchen spilled. Kitchens are casual TDs. Online strangers are not kitchens. Do not cook for them. Queue. Queue is the restaurant. Restaurants do not chase the diner who left. Chasing is hunting. Hunting may be against fair play. Fair play is the next article. This one says: do not hunt. Hunting is a variant of rematch called creepy. Creepy is a report on you. You. The leaver already left. Left is their result. Your result is a win or a void. Void is a package. Package. Then next. Next is the only rematch that always works, because the opponent is the queue, and the queue did not abandon you, because it never sat down, because it is a list, and lists do not disconnect, they just wait, which is all you needed, which is a legal first move in a new game, which is the sport, which still exists, after every leaver, including tonight’s, including the one who will leave tomorrow, including you, if your battery dies, in which case you are the leaver, and you hope they read this, and they wait the hallway, and they do not hunt you, and they queue, which is the golden rule of abandonment, which is do not make it a personality, make it a timer, make it a result, make it a next game, which is checkers, which is 247, which is the title, which is enough.

Abort windows

Some sites give a few seconds at the start where leaving does not rate. That is an abort window, not abandonment mid-endgame. Mid-endgame leave is a win for you or a timer. Opening abort is a void. Void is a mercy for wrong variant, sick kid, wrong clock. Mercy is not a license to peek at their rating and abort if they are strong. Peek-abort is a fair-play smell. Smell is a report on you. You. Use abort for the chip being 10×10 when you wanted 8×8. Chip errors are the honest abort. Honest aborts can rematch after you both confirm the chip. Confirm is a chat line: “American 8×8?” Yes. Then play. Then leaving is abandonment. Abandonment is this article’s villain. Villain is not the abort button. Buttons are tools. Tools have windows. Windows close. Closed windows mean you stay or you lose. Stay. Or lose. Those are the adult verbs after move three. Move three is past mercy. Mercy was move zero. Zero is the chip check. Chip check is how you never need abort. Never is the goal. Goal is a game that starts once. Once is a contract. Contract is rematch’s cousin, except rematch is after a result. Results need an ending. Endings are flag, jump, resign, draw, or leave. Leave is the ugly ending. Ugly endings should not be farmed. Farmed is the next article. This extra is only: abort is early, abandon is late, rematch is optional, hunt is never, queue is always legal. Always. Legal. Queue.
